......then i might be able to actually see my upside-down catfish at night....god damn nocturnals.

and at what size do BN's actually get bristles?
mines only at about 2 inches at the mo, but was just wondering.

    between 2-3 inchs...depending on variety..

    sex is easy to tell...males get bristles on top lip and up the nose..females can get them around the lip....no real size difference between male/female..
    of all the things ive lost, i miss my mind the most!!........

    I can start to tell when they gets to about 5 CM, and male does grow faster then female~ and male also have a big red spot on the top of the head.:)

    my browns should be starting to show bristles soon. my red and black's have a long way to go yet ;)
