ClownLoach locking mouths??
« on: January 14, 2009, 12:16:04 pm »
Why do they do this? I have 2 small loach and they seem to lock their mouths together in a vicious kiss type way. is it a sex thing:) or an aggression thing?
cheers for any ideas.

Just my opinion of course but - Two is not enough to get a proper pecking order. Three minimum required with lots of cover. One of them is trying to be dominant but the other has then to be the lower fish which he don't like. With three or more there is always chance of a change so they seem to except things better.

Theyre fighting over whos boss as was previously said you need more of them, the guidelines usually suggest min of 5. Your 75L tank wont be sufficient for long, bear in mind that clown loaches can live for up to 50 years and can get up to 12" in home aquaria.:)
