You don't need carbon, ordinary sponge will be better, or more ceramics.
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*

I have some spare ceramic knocking around somewhere, will find it and bag it up. This tank will have a relatively small bio load as will only house shrimp.

Nice thread. Video updates would be interesting although a problem who generally browse on their phones.

I am thinking of doing a new tank time lapse when I tear down my two current tanks and create the new one single tank. They are good fun to make, I did one for my son's birthday cake last year.

Oh boy, it has been a long time. Almost 6 years! A lot has happened since that, I got around to setting up my 240 litre reef tank but the sump cracked about 18months months in and that's when I packed it all in. The girlfriend at the time (now wife 2 weddings later.....) was happy I had all this extra time.

Now we have a toddler, cat passed away beginning of December and left a rather fishtank shaped space behind where the large cat tree once was.... Reluctantly the wife agreed as our son loves animals.

    THE 80 LITRE IS BACK

It is currently cycling but I am unsure what to do with it. Current has a good substrate for plants so it's going to get plants and shrimp will be introduced. Has a tonne of bogwood in and as such the water more closely resembles black tea. I was things about going with a Taiwanese biotope. Anyone know where to get ricefish for a reasonable price? I was going to go with some shrimp, ricefish, bumblebee snails and some plants.

Alternatively I could just go as colourful as possible. Bee out of this for a while so would be greatful for any feedback.
