Fascinating to see the transformations step by step!

You definitely have green fingers --- planting looks awesome, sooo green That refers to me btw!

I've read loads of advice on how to encourage good plant growth but I'm still struggling. Would love to hear about your regime for plant care!

Thanks peps.

Atargatis i had proplems growing in my old tank in gravel, only had  20% survive mainly vallis.
i covered the base of new tank were i was planning on planting in tetra plant completesubstrate, with 3 inch of sand on top. i think this is why they took so well, and abit of luck.
i have a warm white and a daylight tube on for 14 hours aday max.
i fill the co2 defusser up everyday and use and plantamin once a month.
i let it grow for 3 months before trimming and thinning out.

all plants were cuttings of ebay £10 worth.

Tank is looking great buddy,
Does it take much maintenance?allways fancied a heavily planted tank but unsure if its any harder to keep things clean?
Some of my plants tend to break up and i end up having them floating everywhere, dont know if they might just be poor plants??

It was a nightmare at first as the cae would uproot them but as soon as they rooted they grew quickly.
i do need to knock debris of the leafs every week and i move the vallis on the surface daily as the food gets trapped in it.
hardest thing is cleanning the sand bettween the plants.
its not much more work.

are yours proper aquatic plants?
or if there stem ones they have not been bent?
i bought lots from my lfs but they died.

Outstanding, that has to be one of the nicest planted tanks I've seen. You've done a great job on it.

*applause* stunning tank. Shows what you can do without spending a fortune on plants and having patience.

Thanks for putting the pics on.  *buba*

Thanks for your nice comments.

ive had to thin it out some more as it was to dense and the fish were not really using the full tank, think they could not get through it lol.
they are much more active and swimming alot more.
12 new tiny neons added today and some blacks on order.

any suggestions for other fish i can add ?
no small bottom feeders tho as my clumbsy cae will land on them.
cheers.

Thanks.
im thinning it every month, i wish it would slow down.
the plant in back right grows new shots and their at the surface in 6 days.
before i took the pic the surface was covered in it and vallis.

I remember those days! I had vallis growing out of the tank it was everywhere - now I wish I could grow something!  The BBA kills everything in my tank.

Love the way you have landscaped the tank though, looks yummy :)

Cheers.
bba is giving me trouble to on the top of the plants infront of the spraybar, all others are ok.
i have uped my co2 but no joy.
im limited to how i have the tank as the cae changes and digs up most things.
i have also tryied to give the baby corys some protection when feeding by having denser areas and the forground plants seem to help them out of the caes way.
wish i could start again with a new tank tho.  :)

OMG the amount of times I have said I would love to start from scratch!  But seriously the tank looks lovely - don't go there! lol

I removed my spraybar before I went on holiday as it really wasn't helping.

I have two huge SD's that eat everything in sight and three (naughty but yummy) plecs that destroy anything I plant, so I know what you mean about the plants!

A while ago I thought I might go back to basics and just have a tank full of small fish that dont produce so much waste, but to be honest I prefer my tank with BBA and the fish that I love rather than a tank full of fish that I really probably won't get so much enjoyment out of.

But, an additional tank is always on the agenda..... LOL

Your tank looks fabulous....I could never dream of having anything like that....Do you have all sand then or gravel with sand on top?
And how do you clean it without all the plants coming up? That's the part that i don't get??
Everytime i clean my gravel with the gravel cleaner everything comes up out of the gravel...and they are only plastic??

Kaz10 know what you mean as i bought 3 sae`s to eat the bba and they are cool, i was missing out.

cheers clothahump but i could not find that post when i started this of.

Thanks keepontrying, i have tetra substrate and a mix of play sand and proper stuff, as for cleanning i dont need to much as the 32 strong cory clan do a great job, there are trumpet snails to.
it is easyer than you think to clean sand and the plants soon root up if they get chance.
i have gravel in my other tank and i find debris gets throught the gravel were as it sits on top of sand.
dont push the cleanner so deep and the plants might stay or add some lead to them. :)
