Title: 20L Betta Tank.
Post by: Ahmotorsport on May 21, 2012, 03:11:21 pm
This one has been going on a fair while now, cycled with him in but a filter squeeze from the 28L so it didn't take long and tbh, i didn't even see a nitrite/ammonia spike, but it's Ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate between 20-40 and it's been that way a few weeks now.

That's how it was, i've changed the plants now and he seems happier

I rescued him from PAH as he was with another male, as you can see by his fins they had been in a bit of a fight, but they're slowly growing back and he's really healthy and playful.

Lighting is just two 48cm strips of LED's which work really well when it's slightly dull outside but as it's a fairly light kitchen it doesn't make the world of difference when it's sunny outside, but it is a difference.

After finding out the plant on the right wasnt aquatic i ordered some more and they came with more grass plants, which was annoying as i specifically asked not to recieve any of those! xD Anyway, that was for the big tank so i put them in this one.

Thor wanted to get in on the action and show off, so i went along with it, unfortunately it was only my phone.

I hope so :) It's good that he's in the kitchen as there is nearly always someone in there for him to flare at :)

Getting better every day! Shouldn't be long now until it's complete again :) Just need to get a heater guard now.

Sucessfully moved into my bedroom. He seems settled enough and his usual happy self.

Got a clip on light ordered, a sheet of acrylic to sit over the top along with some plastic blocks i'll glue to the sides for the acrylic to sit on. About to order up a heater and another check valve as i used my bigger air pump on the betta tank and the little one on my air stone and i dropped the check valve behind my big tank, so no hope getting that back.

I'll take some pictures after Tuesday as i'll have all of the stuff above and some more plants to go in too :)

lovely :)
get him a treat of almond leaf to sit on, it helps them heal, natural antibiotic and turns the water a really natural colour :)

I'll look into that :) thanks Jackie.

His tail is much better, still not completely healed yet though.

The light is okay, can't see it doing a lot of plant growth, there may have to be a 'mark 2' on that set up.

funny how the shape of the tank makes it look bigger than 20l :) nice set up :)  watch he can't jump out though now you don't have a lid :)

Well it's not very deep or tall :P He seems happy enough though :)

It does have a lid, i grafted a sheet of acrylic over the top.

did you drill holes in it? just wondering if it would help or if not needed?  if you drilled holes in it then you could have deeper water?

Yes. Holes in each corner and one in the middle.

What i was accounting for is if he were to jump, i wouldn't want him smashing into the lid.

I had to take the fish off my little brother has i caught him trying to catch one with the gravel cleaner....I was furious! I shouted "what are you doing?!!" to which he replied "Being an idiot" so that was it, got the poor buggers out there and then.

That free'd up the Aqua Start 320 which has found itself in my room housing Thor :)

Nothin'.

The plugs in my room are already vastly overloaded. I won't risk having them anywhere else in the house.
