Title: Feeding time for a tiny bn pleco
Post by: lexy99071 on June 13, 2013, 04:12:30 pm
Whats the best things to feed a tiny BN Pleco? I've been told they like veg, but i have compleatly forgotten what the lovely lady told me cos i was half alseep this morning, not that i'm any different now, lack of sleep all WEEK!!!
I remember cucumbers, but doesn't that have virtually nothing in it? And how do i prepare such veggies.
Any other care i can do for this 2 cm big pleco, he seems to like the flow coming out of the filter.

Cucumber has vitamins that they need and courgette has the roughage.
I cut a one inch chunk of either slice it down the middle and give it a blanch (soak) in hot water swill off under the cold tap just to cool it down. Then insert a teaspoon into both halves to stop it floating away.
I only have 2 B/N's but have to feed them either end of the aquarium as the male is a bit of a git but Im sure the little ones will eat all together.
I usually remove any leftovers after 24 hours.
PS. The cucumber /courgette info was from "plankton" ;)

ahh thank you :)
I shall try some of that tomorrow, he seems happy munching on his algae wafer for the moment, seems to prefer hiding on the back wall.

Algae wafers as well we good in there diet. I use novoplec (I think that's what it's called). Bn'slike to graze on bogwood as well, which is an important part of their diet. Do you have any in your tank?

I've got three different pieces of bog wood :) where he's probably hiding now.
